Milwaukee Public Library

Facility Value Management served as Owner’s Representative for the Milwaukee Public Library’s newest and largest branch library in the system. At more than 20,000 SF, the library’s space was reclaimed from the basement, main level and mezzanine level of the nearly 100-year old former Hills Department Store on Historic Mitchell Street. Floors 2-5 and the former maintenance building on the property now feature 60 market-rate apartments and townhomes. This redevelopment project serves as a catalyst for redevelopment in the neighborhood. As a National Parks Service Historic Tax Credit Project, the space also features the restoration of the original terrazzo floors, ornamental handrails and plaster column capitals/ceilings.
